The image above is from the second URL linked to in the header (in case the link doesn't always work.) I live on Rocky Spring Road.
I was in my kitchen making breakfast shortly after 6 this morning when I saw something huge and dark passing by on the street - a Humvee. I thought to myself, "I don't have time for martial law, I have to get to the gym!" I peeked through my kitchen window as the vehicle slowly and quietly proceeded up the street. Two men in combat gear were standing on the back of the vehicle and watching the neighborhood carefully as they moved along.
Realizing that it was probably the SWAT team trying to handle a criminal situation and not the army preparing to make a police state of my neighborhood, I proceeded to eat my breakfast and watch the local news. News 8 Austin, a local station owned by Time Warner Cable, mentioned the story only as a traffic problem.
I decided not to worry. Even though the incident is happening on my block, it's about 1500 feet away. The blocks are very long and narrow in my neighborhood and this is going down at the West end of the street while I live near the East end.
A few minutes later, I packed up my car and made my way to the gym. The street was blocked by a great number of law enforcement to the West but a single police cruiser to the East allowed me to pass by without incident.
I only know a few people on my street, all of whom live much closer than where this incident is taking place. I know for sure that one home at the corner of Rocky Spring and Spring Hill, which is approximately where this is going on, is an elderly couple.
